Box Score (Disclaimer: It's Unpleasant)
- Well that stunk!
- Homer wasn't as bad as the numbers show. He had two very bad nonconsecutive innings. Other than that, he wasn't too shabby. Both those bad innings were awfully shabby.
- The Reds only struck out three times as a team to the Cardinals seven! Sorry, I'm trying to find the positives here.
***Alright, alright, it ain't the end of the world. But it does always take the wind out of your sails when you lose to the Cards. Especially if you lose a series at home to them. But they are finally getting some of their pieces together and are the best offensive team in the league. The Reds have been without their best hitter for six weeks and played tremendously during that stretch. That series cuts the division lead down to six games. That is still a large sum this late in the season, but it is still very much not enough. The Reds head out to the desert to take on the D-Backs for a three game set on Monday night, then they come back home to play Philadelphia to start a nice long homestand.
***Good News: Joseph Daniel Votto is scheduled to come back and rejoin the Reds lineup as early as Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
