Game 112: Cubs Win. Cubs Win

Reds Drop Fifth Straight.  I Die A Little On The Inside.

By Ryan Bramwell
Cincinnati   3   8   1 (66-46)
Chicago     5   7   1 (44-66)

W: Shawn Camp (3-5)
L: Sean Marshall (4-4)
S: Carlos Marmol (14)

  • The Redlegs were up 3-1 thru five and a half innings of this one.  They gave up two runs in the bottom of the 6th to relenquish the lead, and then two more in the bottom of the 8th to relenquish the game.
  • Reds offense:
    • Phillips was 3-for-4 with a double (20).
    • Frazier was 2-for-4 with a double (17) and a home run (14). He remains very good at baseball.
    • Cozart was 1-for-4 with a home run (13) and a walk.
    • Ludwick reached twice with a single and a walk.
    • Xavier Paul had a single in his pinch-hit appearance.
  • Reds pitching:
    • Mike Leake: 6 IP, 3 R, 6 H, 2 BB, 5 SO.  Not bad.  It's a quality start.  Not good enough.
    • Arredondo threw to one batter and struck him out.
    • Sean Marshall pitched three outs and gave up a run and a walk. He also struck out a pair.  Sean picked up the loss in this one.
    • Logan Ondrusek pitched two outs.  Not before giving up a solo homer however.
  • Overall, this wasn't fun to watch or listen to.  We surely won't continue this awfulness and lose another game tomorrow will we?
