Game 111: Bah Humbug!

Latos Deserving of Win, Gets No Decision As Brew Crew Rallies Late

Cincinnati      2   6   1
Milwaukee    3   6   0

By Ryan Bramwell

  • Mat Latos continued his hot streak on the mound as he went seven innings and gave up only one run on three hits.  Along the way he struck out eight Brewers and walked only one.  Latos homered in his last start, and last night he reached base three times with a pair of singles and a walk.  Still, it wasn't enough.
  • Jonathan Broxton had his first poor performance as a Red.  0.2 innings, two runs on three hits.  Ugh.
  • Phillips, Ludwick, Cairo and Navarro were the only Reds' batters to get hits.  All were singles except for Navarro's two-run homer.
  • Drew Stubbs made a pinch-hit appearance and managed a walk which he followed up with his 26th stolen base on the year.
  • Dusty Baker put a terrible lineup together for this one.  Yes, we are still down a couple guys and everybody needs a day off here and there, but man, this was a bad lineup.
The Reds should be happy to be out of Milwaukee and they will head southeast a few miles down the road to Chicago, Illinois, where they will take on the Cubbies for a four game set.  It will be Leake up against Volstad in game one at 8:05pm ET Thursday.

***Can we bring Joey back, please???
