Game 123: Reds Can't Slow Philly O

Reds Beat Up On Doc Halladay; Phillies Pummel Leake and Bullpen.

CIN  5  12  0  (74-49)
PHI  12  15  0  (57-65)

W: Roy Halladay (7-7)
L:  Mike Leake (5-8)

Box Score

  • Recap:
    • Cincinnati brought their whoopin' sticks to the City of Brotherly Love, but they also sent a wretched version of Mike Leake to the mound.  Leake threw 4.1 innings of baseball and gave up a whopping seven runs on 10 hits.  LeCure, Arredondo and Ondrusek threw a combined 3.2 innings and weren't much better: 5 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 4 SO.  So, game one wasn't that fun.
  • Reds Offense:
    • Jay Bruce was 3-for-3 with a walk and a pair of RBI's.  He also doubled on the night.  It was a terrific game for Jables whose batting average climbed to .261.
    • Chris Heisey was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a double.  He's back up to .278.
    • Brandon Phillips was 2-for-4 and scored twice.
    • Cozart, Rolen, Mesoraco, and Todd Frazier (1-for-1) all had a hit.
  • Reds Pitching:
    • See Recap.

*Game two of the series features Homer Bailey and Cliff Lee. Hopefully we will see more Reds runs than Phillies runs in that one.
