Game 119: Home Runs!

Homers-a-Plenty as Bronson Throws Quality Start.

CHC   3   11  2 (46-71)
CIN    7   10  1 (72-47)

W: Bronson Arroyo (9-7)
L: Travis Wood (4-9)

Box Score

  • Recap:
    • Arroyo was good enough on Friday as he went 6.1 innings and gave up three runs and earned his 9th win on the season.  Todd Frazier, Jay Bruce and Ryan Ludwick all went yard to give the fans something more to cheer about along the way.  Jay Bruce and Drew Stubbs both had outfield assists as well.  Bruce threw Rizzo out at the plate and Stubbs threw Travis Wood out at second base.  The Reds move to 25 games over .500 after the victory.
  • Reds Offense:
    • Extra Bases:  Ludwick (23) and Frazier (16) homered in the 4th inning off Wood.  Bruce hit his 25th of the year off Wood in the 6th.  Arroyo and Cozart both hit doubles.  Drew Stubbs smacked a triple in the game.
    • Stubbs, Ludwick, and Frazier were all 2-for-4;  Cozart, Bruce, Rolen and Arroyo all supplied hits.
  • Reds Pitching:
    • Bronson Arroyo - 6.1 IP, 3 R, 9 H, 3 BB, 3 SO.  Like I said, it was a quality start and good enough for the win.
    • Arredondo and Broxron - 2.1 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 SO. Good holds for these gentlemen.
    • Aroldis Chapman - 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 SO. Chapman pitched in a non-save situation and made the most of it.  He did not strike anyone out, but he also only needed seven pitches to retire the side and end the game.

** Reds win!  Move to 25 games over .500.  Good stuff, boys.
