Box Score

  • Recap
    • Cueto: 6.0 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 4 BB, 2 SO.  Not the Cy Young Cueto we like to see, but the winning Cueto we're happy for.
    • Definitely a resting day for the usual guys in this one as Speier (Not Dusty) put together a useful lineup of youngsters to do the job behind Cueto.
    • Big 7th inning as the Reds crossed the plate five times and ensured a victory in that inning alone.
    • Xavier Paul, Denis Phipps, Henry Rodriguez, Didi Gregorious all had starts in this one.
    • Paul got the nod for the lead off spot and did not disappoint as he reached base three times.
    • The only players in the lineup who really did disappoint were, in fact, the usuals in the middle of the order.  I cannot blame Speier for this one.  They (Frazier/Heisey) just didn't it today)
    • Phipps had a pair of hits including his first MLB double.  Good for him.
    • Rodriguez had a hit that gave him his first two RBI as a Major Leaguer.
    • The team was 4-for-12 with RISP.  Not bad considering the youth involved.
    • Kudos to Manager Chris Speier.
***The Reds are the first team in Major League Baseball this season to clinch a playoff spot!  Next stop, Division Championship!
