CIN  5  9  0  (86-57)

Box Score

  • Recap:
    • Mike Leake: 7.0 IP, 3 R, 9 H, 1 BB, 3 SO.  2-for-2 with a run scored.  Great, great redemption for Mike after his poor, poor showing against Philly last week.  Very good, Leakey.
    • Brandon Phillips: 2-for-4 with a double (30) and a homer (17).  He also knocked in a pair (74) and scored a pair of runs.
    • Ryan Ludwick had two hits.
    • Wilson Valdez reached base three times with two hits and a walk!  Wow.
    • Scotty Baseball triumphantly returned to the lineup and hit a homerun (7) off the first pitch he saw in the 8th inning to give the Reds an insurance run.  Way to go, Scotty!
    • Ondrusek and Marshall: Combined one inning of work.  One hit allowed.  Nothing else.
    • Jonathan Broxton got his first save as a Redleg.  In the absense of Chapman, JB went back to his old job as closer and had no real problems doing so.

*The Reds have taken the first two from the Pirates and need one more to sweep and ensure a winning homestand!  Let's get it done!
